“May kakampi po kayo sa Senado. Ako po ay certified Bataeño, sa ayaw n’yo o sa gusto,” Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva said during his fruitful visit in the Province of Bataan last Tuesday, June 20.
With his wife Gladys hailing from Dinalupihan, and 2nd District Representative Abet Garcia being his son’s godfather, the senator expressed how Bataan has always been close to his heart.
Through the funds provided by his office, Senator Joel led the groundbreaking and capsule-laying ceremonies to several projects in the Province: the Coast Guard multi-purpose building in Limay; the road leading to the Philippine Coast Guard’s antenna farm in Abucay; and the Morong District Hospital.
The Philippine Coast Guard protects the 177-km coastline of the Bataan Peninsula, thus the modernization of the PCG Building in Brgy. Lamao, Limay, expected to be completed by November of this year, shall ensure a faster and more efficient service especially in safeguarding our waters.
The construction of the 7-km road at Brgy. Capitangan, Abucay will ensure a safe and easy access towards the PCG’s antenna farm, which will also be utilized by the 1Bataan Inter-Agency Action Center (1BIAAC) to transmit and receive signals to and from the entry points of the Province: Mariveles, Hermosa, and Morong; crucial for a fast and reliable communication among agencies.
With a total land area of 12,421 sq. m., 73-bed capacity, 12 facilities, and services such as emergency, out-patient, pharmacy, radiology, laboratory, and an isolation room, the “long-overdue”, as Gov. Joet Garcia put it, Morong District Hospital is a dream-come-true for the residents of Morong and nearby barangays as the healthcare and emergency services shall be brought closer to them.
Also present during these events were Vice Governor Cris Garcia, 3rd District Representative Gila Garcia, Coast Guard Rear Admiral Hostillo Arturo Cornelio, Limay Vice Mayor Richie David, Abucay Mayor Robin Tagle, Morong Councilor Katherine Taba-Maglaque, Philippine Ports Authority General Manager Jon Gabriell Manansala, Provincial Engineer Enrico Yuzon, DPWH Bataan 1st DEO Engr. Erlindo Flores, 2nd DEO Engr. Ulysses Llado, 3rd DEO Engr. Maribel Navarro, members of the PCG, and the officials and employees of Provincial Engineer’s Office, DPWH Bataan, LGUs and barangays of Limay, Abucay and Morong. Truly, we Bataeños have a formidable ally in the Senate.
